Cold spell, mixed precipitation, strong wind to grip most of Romania through Friday morning

Intensifying winds, rain, sleet and snow, and a cold spell will come to define weather in Romania for the next three days, according to a weather report released on Wednesday by the National Weather Administration (ANM).

Thus, between April 8, 10:00hrs and April 10, 10:00 a.m., winds will pick up speed throughout Romania, with speeds generally of 45 - 60 km/h, and gusts of over 80 - 90 km in the mountains.

Predominantly in the central, eastern and southern parts of the country there will be rain, sleet and snow, and in the mountains it will snow and, especially at high elevations in the Southern and Eastern Carpathians, with a new layer of snow expected to accumulate (locally of 10 - 15 cm) and a blizzard. By the end of the interval, locally quantities of water of 10 - 15 l/sqm will accumulate.

Meteorologists also say that the weather will continue to cool down and become particularly colder for this time of the year, and ground frost in restricted areas.
