Romanian-Chinese duo Sorana Cirstea/Shuai Zhang on Tuesday advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's doubles event at the Linz Open WTA 500 tennis tournament Austria, prize money EUR 1,049,083 euros, after defeating the American couple Sloane Stephens/Katie Volynets, 6-1 6-3.
It took the top seed doubles 62 minutes to prevail.
Cirstea and her partner won EUR 9,700 and 108 WTA doubles points, and in the quarterfinals they will face the winners between Maria Kozyreva (Russia)/ Iryna Shymanovich (Belarus) - Miyu Kato (Japan)/Lyudmila Samsonova (Russia).
Also on Tuesday, Cirstea defeated Austrian Sinja Kraus 6-3 6-3, in the first-round singles.
