I.L. Caragiale National Theatre in Bucharest has been and will be an institution the Romanian culture is proud of and represents the place where people's souls are delighted, bringing joy to their existence, actor Mircea Rusu, the institution manager, says in the context of the 170th anniversary since the establishment of this grand stage in the Capital.
"The National Theatre means a sense of existence for very many people among those who spend their time, who work here. The National Theatre is a place where artists, technicians and clerks conjugate their efforts and make this institution go further in any conditions, no matter what happened - pandemics, small domestic or external frictions, and so on. The National Theatre has been and will be an institution Romanian culture and Romania in general is proud of. (...) We shall remind everyone that in January, according to some calculations on February 1, 1852 as well, as this is a strange coincidence, Caragiale and the National Theatre were born the same year. I do not see it as a mere coincidence, but I believe it has some ancestral connotations. I still believe these two forces - the theatre and Caragiale's figure - were born together to stay together over centuries," Mircea Rusu told AGERPRES.
He brought to mind that on December 30 there will be shows performed on all stages of the National Theatre and all theatre employees will celebrate this anniversary through their work.
On the last but one day of 2022, staged at the National Theatre will be the following shows: Francis Veber's Dinner for Schmucks, at Ion Caramitru Hall, Little Inferno, by Mircea Stefanescu, at Studio Hall, Stupid fucking bird, by Aaron Posner, at the Painting Hall, Fool for love, by Sam Sheppard, at the Atelier Hall.
Mircea Rusu brought to mind that 2022 was a very fruitful year and weird at the same time, but in which people have been more than willing to work and make us forget everything that happened during these two years of pandemic, a quite dark period for everyone, Agerpres informs.
Asked what the National Theatre meant for the people coming to the shows, he said that this is "a place where people's souls are delighted, bringing joy to their existence."
"It is an extraordinary inflow that bursts into our halls, things that still give us great confidence that we are not at the heart of Bucharest for nothing," the manager said.
