The leader of the AUR senators, Petrisor Peiu, accused the governing coalition of "betraying its own people" by deciding to no longer support the exemption from health insurance contributions for mothers on parental leave.
"The governing coalition has betrayed its own people again. The people who pay the salaries of all these bosses and minions. How did it betray them? Simple: it has given up supporting the exemption from health insurance contributions for mothers on parental leave, for war veterans and widows, for former political prisoners, for magistrates dismissed from the system after 1945. (...) They have given up on these supports, which were small anyway, and did not exceed 700 million lei anyway. Which means half of the social package with which the PSD kept boasting that it had bought the goodwill of pensioners. Good people, these rulers will destroy Romania in the long run. Mothers who raise their children are a blessing for any nation. "Any nation has the means to encourage this raising of the child by the mother, not to take him and leave him somewhere, at a nursery," Peiu declared, according to an AUR press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
Peiu specified that AUR will continue to support the draft law on the exemption from CASS for certain social categories.
"We will vote for and fight for the exemption from CASS, from the health insurance contribution for mothers, for war veterans and widows and for former political prisoners. Nothing will stop us from giving Romanians what we promised them: solving this problem, reversing the humiliation that Bolojan and his defenders from PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR caused this people", added the leader of the AUR senators.
PSD President Sorin Grindeanu declared on Thursday that the budget amendment regarding the elimination of CASS for certain categories, including mothers and war veterans, will be withdrawn from the budget draft and will be promoted as a bill in Parliament.
