Romania's economy grew 0.7% in real terms last year compared with 2024, but in the final quarter of 2025 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 1.8% lower than in the previous quarter, according to provisional data II the National Institute of Statistics ((NS) published on Thursday.
Previously, in the provisional data I, the institute had announced that in the final quarter of 2025 GDP was 1.9% lower than in the previous quarter.
Seasonally adjusted GDP estimated for the fourth quarter of 2025 stood at 496.303 billion lei in current prices, down 1.8% in real terms compared with the third quarter of 2025 and dropping 1.4% compared with the fourth quarter of 2024.
On the unadjusted series, GDP estimated for 2025 totalled 1,916.404 billion lei in current prices, up 0.7% in real terms compared with 2024. GDP estimated for the fourth quarter of 2025 was 573.630 billion lei in current prices, up 0.2% in real terms compared with the fourth quarter of 2024.
In 2025, GDP dynamics remained unchanged in provisional version (2) compared with provisional version (1), at 0.7%.
The volume of net taxes on products decreased 0.1 percentage points in provisional version (2) compared with provisional version (1), from 101.0% to 100.9%.
