The stability of the judicial system is essential for public trust and for the functioning of the rule of law, National Liberal Party (PNL) deputy Alina Gorghiu, former Minister of Justice, said on Wednesday after President Nicusor Dan's announcement regarding the appointments to the heads of the major prosecutor's offices.

''A chapter has been closed. President Nicusor Dan's reaction was quick and correct. There was no need for interims in the prosecutor's offices or for escalating tensions. There was, unfortunately, too much noise: fake news, biased positions, attacks and too little substance in a debate that should have been exclusively about competence and responsibility,'' she wrote on Facebook.

The Public Ministry must function without syncope, the former minister said.

"We cannot afford blockages or experiments, at a time when criminal phenomena are increasingly dynamic and complex. Justice is not a stage. The stability of the judicial system is essential for public trust and for the functioning of the rule of law. I wish everyone success in fulfilling their responsibilities," was the message of the liberal deputy.

President Nicusor Dan announced on Wednesday that he had signed the decrees for the appointment of the heads of the major prosecutor's offices.

The proposals had been submitted to the head of state on Tuesday by the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu.
