Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian on Tuesday advanced to the singles third round of the Canadian Open WTA 1,000 tournament in Montreal, prize money USD 5,152,599, after defeating Czech Linda Noskova, 6-3 6-4.
Cristian, 27, world number 59, prevailed in an hour and 19 minutes against Saturday's Prague Open finalist.
Noskova, 20, world number 23, 20th seeded, led 4-2 in the second set, but the Romanian managed four games in a row and got the victory.
For her performance so far in Montreal, Cristian won USD 33,000 and 65 WTA singles points. Her next opponent will be the winner between the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the ninth seed, and the American Hailey Baptiste.
