Retail turnover (except for cars and motorcycles) grew 10.7 per cent as gross series compared with the previous year, according to data sent on Monday to AGERPRES by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The growth was triggered by the increases sales in the non-food sector (+13.2 per cent), retail trade in fuels for cars in specialized stores (+12.4 per cent) and sales of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+6.8 per cent).
In December 2017, the retail turnover (except for cars and motorcycles) increased 7.0 per cent, as gross series, and by 1.2 per cent respectively, as adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality.

Compared with the previous month, the overall retail turnover (except for cars and motorcycles) grew 7 per cent, due to increases recorded in the foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+15.7 per cent) and sales of non-food products (+6.5 per cent). Retail trade in fuels for cars in specialized stores dropped 5.6 per cent.
Retail turnover (except for cars and motorcycles), increased by 1.3 per cent overall, compared with the previous month, as adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, in December 2017, due to growths recorded in the retail trade in fuels for cars at specialized stores (+6.5 per cent) and sales of non-food products (+4.2 per cent). Decreases were recorded in the foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco sector ( -0.2 per cent).
In December 2017, compared with December 2016, the retail turnover (except for cars and motorcycles), gross series, recorded a growth of 13.4 per cent, due to growths recorded in the non-food sector (+15.5 per cent), retail trade in fuels for cars at specialized stores (+14.5 per cent) and sales of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+10.3 per cent).
In the same interval, retail turnover (except for cars and motorcycles), adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality, climbed 13.4 per cent, due to growths recorded in the sales of fuels for cars at specialized stores (+18.7 per cent), sales of non-food products (+15.8 per cent) and sales of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+11.7 per cent).
