The Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) has amended the Start-up Nation programme procedure so that some of the equipment already included in investment plans is now eligible for funding, relevant Minister Irineu Darau announced on Friday on his Facebook page.

"Funding for thousands of entrepreneurs in the Start-up Nation programme will not be blocked. We have made the necessary correction. And we ensured equal treatment for all applicants. Following a recent legislative change, some of the equipment already included in investment plans had become ineligible for funding due to the change in the threshold for classifying fixed assets - from 2,500 lei to 5,000 lei. We are talking about equipment used directly in the companies' activities," Darau said.

According to the minister, over 4,000 companies have submitted funding applications, with approximately 3,200 having applied before the rule change, thus being directly affected by this issue.

"I have corrected this situation by amending the programme procedure so that this equipment remains eligible and entrepreneurs can continue their projects without changes and without the risk of losing funding," the Minister of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism added.

The programme to stimulate the setting up of small and medium-sized enterprises, "Start-up Nation - Romania" is implemented by the MEDAT through the Small and Medium Enterprises and Tourism Agencies (AIMMT), according to the ministry's website.

Start-up Nation aims to facilitate access for the target group eligible to participate in the programme's activities and to provide financial support in the form of de minimis aid to newly established enterprises created by individuals from the target group.
