The thematic exhibition "The World of the Dacian Fortresses: People, Heroes and Gods" will open on 20 May at the Sutu Palace.
"From 20 May, we invite you to the thematic exhibition The World of the Dacian Fortresses: People, Heroes and Gods,' an opportunity to discover the fascinating world of the Dacians and their fortifications, viewed through the lens of spectacular archaeological discoveries. The fortress, with its sacred places, lies at the centre of this world, where the Dacians' warrior elites become intermediaries in the relationship between the sacred and the earthly, in a space where the gods are close," the Bucharest Municipality Museum informed in a Facebook post on Friday.
For the first time, the public will be able to admire in full the silver objects of a famous hoard, alongside other renowned pieces less well known to the general public.
"It will be a journey into the universe of the Dacians, founders of these formidable fortresses, built on ridges and mountain peaks, of their tombs with panoplies of weapons and of gold and silver objects intended to illustrate their power, beliefs and prestige as warrior-aristocrats across the centuries," the museum also said.
Organised in collaboration with the National Museum of Unification in Alba Iulia and the Institute of Archaeology and Art History of the Romanian Academy in Cluj-Napoca, the exhibition will be open until 11 October.
