Wizz Air has canceled its flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel, as a result of the escalation of the conflict in Israel.
"Wizz Air is contacting the affected passengers directly, via e-mail or SMS, and offering them options for rescheduling or reimbursement, as well as for accommodation," the airline says.
At the same time, Wizz Air recommends passengers who booked their tickets through travel agencies or online platforms to contact them for changes in their bookings.
Romania's National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT) reported on Saturday evening that there were about 900 Romanians in Israel, most of them pilgrims, and none were injured.
On Sunday, Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informed that, following the steps taken by the MAE task force on October 8, 245 Romanian citizens were repatriated from Israel, including two groups of pilgrims, on two flights operated by the TAROM airline, and on two flights operated by a private airline.
MAE says that at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, there is a mobile consular team from the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Romanian Representative Office in Ramallah to provide consular assistance to Romanian nationals at the airport. A team from the Rapid Reaction Unit of the MAE task force travelled to Israel on Sunday to assist with the efforts to repatriate Romanian citizens, already undertaken by the consular missions involved.
Romanian citizens in Israel can contact the Embassy of Romania in Tel Aviv and announce their presence in the region, communicating their identification data and their coordinates to the e-mail address telaviv@mae.ro and to the telephone line of the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv: +972 54 5643279, as well as that of the Consulate General in Haifa: +972 543 998 038, to be contacted.
MAE recommends visiting the Internet pages http://telaviv.mae.ro, https://consular-protection.ec.europa.eu/travel-advice_en and www.mae.ro - "Travel Advice." Romanian citizens travelling abroad can use the SMS alert service related to the information campaign "A text message can save your life!"
