The Government must "immediately" take support measures for the families in Suceava county affected by the recent floods and allocate emergency funds to restore the destroyed infrastructure, interim chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Grindeanu stated on Tuesday.
"My thoughts go out to those affected by the tragedy caused by the floods in Suceava, to those who mourn their parents, brothers. Thousands of people have seen their lives endangered and their savings swallowed up by the raging waters. These are losses that are difficult to understand and accept. This is why we need to show solidarity and stand by those who are now in need of a lot of help to rebuild their lives," Grindeanu wrote on his Facebook page.
He added that he stands with the authorities in the Suceava County in all the steps taken in support of the hundreds of families experiencing this drama.
"This is not the first time when our communities are going through such disasters. The Government must immediately take measures to support the affected families and allocate emergency funds to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure," the PSD leader said.
Grindeanu also talked about the floods that "wreaked havoc" in Neamt county, "where approximately 900 persons have been evacuated and hundreds of homesteads were destroyed."
"I stand with the president of the Neamt County Council, Daniel Vasilica Harpa, and the people of the county in order to identify and implement solutions which can help them return to normalcy. Meteorologists warn that there will be heavy rainfall in the coming days, which could cause flooding. I am at the disposal of all county council chairs who need help. At the same time, I call on the Government to urgently intervene in order to help the affected communities to get through this difficult time, but also to prepare additional fast response measures," he mentioned.
