Ambassador of the United States of America to Romania Darryl Nirenberg and Minister of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Irineu Darau discussed, during a meeting, the directions concerning the economic component of the strategic partnership between Romania and the U.S. including in industry, the defence sector and the area of mineral resources.
'I had a first meeting with the new U.S. Ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg. We discussed concrete directions through which we can strengthen the economic component of the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States. The discussions focused on investment and bilateral trade, including in industry, the defence sector and the area of mineral resources,' Darau said in a post on his Facebook page.
According to him, other topics addressed referred to the digital economy, start-up financing, tourism and investment.
'We also discussed the digital economy, where Romania has a real advantage through its well-trained workforce. The objective is to turn this advantage into investment, development and added value in the economy. An important topic was supporting start-ups and access to financing. We need simpler and faster mechanisms that reduce bureaucracy and accelerate investment. We also encourage American capital to choose Romania as a reliable and developing destination. We also discussed tourism, where greater coherence in promotion and more effective cooperation with friendly countries are needed to attract more foreign tourists,' the minister of Economy said.
Darau believes that Romania needs partnerships that deliver results in the economy, and that the United States is one of the country's most important economic partners. 'The aim is to expand this partnership through investments and projects here in the country,' the Romanian minister concluded.
