Higher education is a prestigious trademark of Romania, a business card with valuable accents both in the image area and in terms of substance, said Ambassador Adrian Vierita, the Permanent Representative of Romania to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland.
The statement was made for AGERPRES in the context of the setting up in Geneva of a pavilion dedicated to Romania, titled "Study in Romania", by the National Council of Rectors (CNR), with the support of the Ministry of National Education, within the Conference of the European Association for International Education (EAIE).
Ambassador Adrian Vierita stressed that education is an essential pillar of life, without which an adequate response to the present challenges cannot be imagined.
"I believe that the presence of the representatives of the Romanian higher education in Geneva, by definition a city of multilateral diplomacy, represents both the recognition of the relevant Romanian excellence at international level and also an invitation to dialogue. In his opinion, this type of participation in international events must be continued, given the importance of consolidating the institutional links between Romanian universities and higher education institutions in Europe and on other continents."
From 11 September to 14, over 100 academics from Romania are present in Geneva at the 30th edition of EAIE. Represented there are 30 Romanian universities, CNR, the Ministry of National Education, the Erasmus National Agency and UEFISCDI. The Embassy of Romania to Switzerland and the Permanent Mission of Romania at the UN were also present during the conference.
