Over 90% of Romanians believe that they need Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills to remain relevant in their careers, according to the findings of a recently published survey, informs Agerpres.

According to data analysed by NewTech Academy in collaboration with the National Qualifications Authority (NCA) at the level of the European platform for adult education EPALE, Romanians consider that the use of AI tools is an essential professional skill and show a strong interest in IT reskilling.

At the same time, 40% of respondents consider a professional reconversion to the IT sector in the near future, which reflects the need for educational programmes adjusted for the new digital standards.

Over 90% of the respondents said they need AI skills to stay relevant in their careers. The result confirms that AI is no longer a niche technology, being regarded as a mandatory standard in today's professions.

At the same time, 55% of the total respondents consider that a job in IT is opportune in the current market context, and when asked what specific trend in IT would attract them, respondents indicated a clear preference for roles that combine creativity with technology: Digital Marketing and Graphic Design. Also, cybersecurity and data analysis were solid techniques that some of the candidates are heading towards.

According to the survey, almost a quarter (24%) of respondents directly aim for a higher salary, while another 20% are motivated by the attractive benefits packages that they perceive as an asset of the IT sector. Thus, investment in digital education and AI skills subsequently translates into a direct and stable financial return, according to the survey authors.

The survey, conducted by NewTech Academy in collaboration with ANC on the European Platform for Adult Education EPALE, included a sample of 770 respondents from Romania, most of them aged between 18 and 34.

They represent categories such as students, specialists in marketing, advertising & PR, professionals in E-commerce, IT & Software Development, retail, education and finance.
