A Romanian citizen was evacuated safely, on Wednesday, from the Republic of Yemen, through the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to Romania, a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) sent to AGERPRES informs.
Throughout the journey, reads the quoted source, the Romanian citizen was in contact with the Romanian Embassy to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, that permanently monitored the travel. The representatives of the diplomatic mission in Amman, in permanent coordination with MAE's Crisis Unit and with the support of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Yemen to Romania, have consistently granted consular assistance regarding the repatriation by air, by identifying an optimal evacuation route, issuing the necessary documents for travel and ensuring the boarding formalities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specifies that it fully supported the costs of transportation for the repatriated Romanian citizen. MAE's Crisis Unit continues its efforts of safely evacuating the Romanian citizens in the Republic of Yemen and remains in constant communication with them, as well as with the competent authorities in the region.
MAE reminds a Yemen travel warning is still posted on its site, which contains the maximum alert level, namely "Major danger - leave immediately the area or country!".
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the request addressed to the Romanian citizens in the conflict areas to contact the Romanian missions in the territory to register their presence, so that they can benefit from assistance and consular protection and to consult the information provided via the "Travel safely!" application, which can be downloaded from the MAE website on any smartphone device with Android of IOS operating systems. Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made available to all Romanian citizens who travel abroad the SMS alert system, part of the information campaign "One SMS can save your life!"
