Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consular Department (DCons), and the Ministry of Interior, through the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), on Friday concluded a collaboration protocol to help each other in managing special situations involving Romanian citizens traveling or who are established abroad, and foreign citizens established in Romania, respectively.
According to MAE, the conclusion of this partnership between the two institutions allows the setting up of a framework and ways of collaboration between the two institutions and it will also facilitate activities and common actions in managing major/disastrous emergency situations, natural calamities in the neighboring states (the Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria, the Republic of Serbia, Hungary and Ukraine), as well as, based on a mutual agreement, in other countries where the Consular Department will punctually ask for, in certain emergency situations, the support of DSU and of the structures under the DSU coordination.
Moreover, the partnership implies, among other things, such activities as exercises, training activities, workshops, with a view to preparing the Quick Response Forces of the Crisis Cell of MAE, in managing emergency situations.
Moreover, they will also promote the application developed by MAE, "Travel Safely", the alert service "A SMS Saves Your Life", meant for citizens who are traveling abroad, as well as the DSU application, which offers the user information with respect to emergency situations.
Based on this collaboration protocol it is reconfirmed the good cooperation existing between the two departments specialized in emergency situations, as well as the commitment to strengthen this partnership in the future actions, in order to manage them operatively and efficiently, in supporting th Romanian citizens faced with special situations.
