The third Greek passenger who survived the minibus road accident that occurred last week near Lugoj will be discharged on Wednesday from the Timisoara County Hospital and transferred to Greece, the Timis Prefect's Office announced on Tuesday evening.
'In principle, on Wednesday, the last survivor of the accident near Lugoj will be transferred to Greece. If tomorrow morning's medical tests are satisfactory, the patient will be transferred by an aircraft that will land in Timisoara at 10:00 and take off for Thessaloniki at 11:30,' the Timis Prefect's Office said in a press release.
The health condition of the Greek citizen who survived the road accident last Tuesday is stable, and he has undergone surgery performed by surgeons at the Timisoara County Hospital.
The other two people injured in the accident, also Greek citizens, were discharged and left for Greece on Thursday morning.
'In the case of the patient diagnosed with a cervical spine fracture, MRI investigations revealed significant spinal cord oedema, without clinical neurological manifestations. Given the risk of possible neurological deterioration, the medical team decided to carry out emergency surgery to decompress the spinal cord and stabilise the cervical spine. The operation was performed without incident. Under these circumstances, the transfer of this patient will not take place on Thursday, the decision having been taken exclusively in the interest of his safety and state of health,' the Timisoara County Hospital informed on Thursday.
The bodies of the seven Greek citizens who died in the accident were repatriated by military aircraft on Thursday afternoon.
