The Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration, Cseke Attila, inaugurated, on Tuesday, the first nursery built in the municipality of Botosani after 1990.
The investment, which cost 9.5 million RON, excluding VAT, was carried out within the government program to build the "Sfânta Ana" nursery, financed from the National Resilience and Recovery Plan (PNRR).
The nursery has a capacity of 40 places, being part of the category of small nurseries built through this program run by the Ministry of Development.
"First of all, I am glad that we have arrived in Botosani to inaugurate the first nursery. I assure you and I assure everyone in the municipality of Botoşani and the county that we will not stop here. This government program to build the Sfânta Ana nursery, which was born in 2021 from an idea and from some statistics, statistics that showed in 2021 that Romania was in last place in the European Union in the number of places available proportionally for pre-school age in nurseries, on the one hand. And of course these figures that are a challenge for all of us, the demographic challenge, which we must talk about, which we must act on. And then the Romanian state decided, through the Ministry of Development, to make a government program to build the Sfânta Ana nursery, an investment program, which is based on a standard project, which means that everywhere in the country, if you go, you will see these nurseries with the giraffe coming out of the roof and with this model. The differences can only be in size because we have three types of nurseries that we build: the nursery with a minimum of 40 places, the nursery with a minimum of 70 and the nursery with a minimum of 110 places. From here we started in 2021, initially with funding from the national budget, from the state budget. In 2022, when the opportunity for European funding through the PNRR appeared, being already a project, a mature program, we were able to transfer part of these investments, as is the exact case of this nursery in the municipality of Botosani. "That's why it's important to make investments on the national budget too! If we catch another train with European funding, we'll board it there and take European money," the minister said.
According to him, in the government program for building "Sfânta Ana" nurseries, 242 nurseries have been built or are in the construction phase throughout the country. Of these, 131 are financed from the state budget and 111, including the one in Botosani, are financed through the PNRR.
The nursery in Botosani is the 53rd completed since the start of the investment program.
The mayor of Botosani, Cosmin Andrei, declared that the new nurseries built in urban areas represent forms of support for young families who "want to remain in Romania".
"I know that it is a demographic problem throughout Romania and the construction of these nurseries, we are in the municipality of Botosani at the third nursery and we will have the fourth, it constitutes a support for young people who want to stay in Romania, to stay in the cities they come from and here the state is getting involved through the Ministry of Development, with the support of the minister," said Cosmin Andrei.
The municipality of Botosani obtained, through the same program, funding for a new nursery, the construction of which will begin as soon as possible.
