Romanian film director Radu Jude's "Dracula" will have its world premiere on Sunday, in the official competition of the Locarno Film Festival.
According to a Safa Film press statement released on Thursday, the world premiere will take place at Palexpo in the presence of the cast and will be followed by a question and answer session. The next performances are scheduled on Monday at L'altra Sala, and on Tuesday at PalaCinema1.
The cast at Locarno will be composed of Radu Jude (director, screenwriter), Adonis Tanta, Gabriel Spahiu, Oana Maria Zaharia, Andrada Balea (actors), Catalin Cristutiu (editing), Sebastian Zsemlye (editing and sound design), Matei Teodorescu (composer), Vlaicu Golcea (animation A.I.), Alex Teodorescu (producer), Vlad Semenescu, Ramona Grama, Adina Teodorescu, Ana Gheorghe (executive producers) and Cristiana Popescu (production coordinator).
"'We're going to Locarno!' That's what I wrote on Facebook when I found out the news. I minimised the news out of modesty, false by the way. And now I think a little bit about all the efforts made, not by me, but by everyone else, I think about the immense efforts of all the cinema people whose films are called and applauded in all the important places in the world in Locarno, Berlin, Venice, Cannes and Sarajevo. And I also think of the lack of consideration for culture, art and education of our politicians and, by extension, of many of us. and YES! We're going to Locarno, there will be screenings, on Sunday evening at Palexpo (2,800 seats) and on Monday morning at L'altra Sala (420 seats), people will flock to see us and there will be a lot of applause. Some, however, in this world, still know how to appreciate movies," Gabriel Spahiu is quoted as saying in the statement.
The trailer for the film will premiere on Sunday morning.
"Dracula" is a Romanian-Austrian-Luxembourg co-production, made with support of CNC Romania, Austrian Film Institute, Film Fund Luxembourg and Creative Europe - MEDIA. The film is produced by Saga Film in co-production with Nabis Filmgroup, Paul Thiltges Distribution, RT Features, Samsa Film, Bord Frames Films, Sovereign Films and MicroFILM.
It will be released in Romanian cinemas on October 31.
