The total number of investors reported by the participants in the Investors Compensation Fund (FCI), at the end of 2nd quarter (Q2) of 2025 stood at 262,737, increasing by 6.83pct compared to the end of the previous quarter, according to a quarterly release sent by the FCI on Thursday.
Thus, according to the analysis, a number of 62,038 (23.61pct) of the total number of investors hold only government securities issued by the Romanian state through the Finance Ministry.
The number of investor eligible for full compensation increased by 6.48pct. The number of investors entitled to limited compensation increased by 7.70pct and the number of non-compensable investors increased by 2.03pct compared to the previous quarter.
The classification of investors is dominated by fully compensable investors, who account for 68.11pct of the total as of June 30, 2025. Of these, 76.92pct use the companies of financial investment services.
The category of investors eligible for compensation, with portfolios smaller than the 20,000 EUR threshold, is the largest investor group, registering a 6.48pct increase at the end of Q2 2025, reaching a total of 178,957 investors.
The number of investor eligible for compensation, with portfolios higher than the compensation cap stood at 82,371, with an increase of 7.70pct compared to the previous quarter. The fewest are in the category of non-compensable investors (1,409 investors). In Q2, the number of these investors recorded an increase of 2.03pct compared to the previous quarter.
Moreover, the value of the total portfolio saw an increase of 4.89pct compared to the previous quarter, reaching to 379.81 billion RON.
The average portfolio of an investor entitled to full compensation reached 4,537.59 EUR, after registering an increase of 12.81pct against the first quarter. The average portfolio of an investor eligible for limited compensation at the end of the first quarter recorded an increase of 6.75pct, reaching 196.776,85 EUR. The average portfolio of a non-compensable investor recorded an increase of 4.34pct, reaching 43.809 million EUR.
At end-June 2025, the total compensable investment stood at 12,160.89 RON and the Fund had 31 participants. Thus, the value of the average compensable investment (reported for 31 participants) stands at 392.29 million RON, higher by 10.78pct than the value recorded in the previous quarter, namely 354.12 million RON.
The compensable investment (IC) registered an increase of 10.78pct in Q2 of 2025 compared to the previous quarter.
The value of financial resources intended for investor compensation at the end of June 2025 amounted to 30.89 million RON. These resources were allocated 91.61pct to benchmark government bonds and 8.39pct to term deposits.
