A total of 708,012 payment requests covering an area of 9,875,710.11 hectares were submitted between March 3 and June 13, according to the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA), at the conclusion of the 2025 payment application campaign, which ended on Friday.
According to a statement sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the figures continue to reflect the upward trend seen in recent years regarding farmers' associations and land consolidation.
Compared to 2024, when 730,395 payment requests were submitted for an area of 9.962,885 million hectares, APIA observed in this year's campaign an increase in the average area per farm and a decrease in the average number of plots per farmer/farm.
'These developments confirm that more and more farmers are choosing to consolidate their land in order to make agricultural work more efficient, reduce operational costs, and facilitate access to the interventions under the 2023-2027 CAP Strategic Plan, where land consolidation is a favorable criterion under certain measures,' APIA said.
The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture reminds farmers of the importance of fulfilling their obligations under the payment application and being responsive to any requests from APIA during the verification process. The next stages include administrative checks, field inspections and monitoring, followed by preparation for payments related to the 2025 Campaign.
