Romania's Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT) discussed on Wednesday various scenarios and the Romanian state's response options in light of the economic consequences of the war in the Middle East, namely rising prices on the international oil market, President Nicusor Dan said.

"The second item on the agenda concerned the economic situation and the economic consequences of the war, namely the increase in prices on the international oil market. Here we had a presentation by the energy minister on the overall situation and discussions - involving the prime minister, the energy minister and the finance minister - on the various scenarios we may face and what the Romanian state's response will be depending on these scenarios," Nicusor Dan said in a press statement at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace following the CSAT meeting.

In this context, the head of state recalled that regarding natural gas, the government has already adopted a price-capping scheme.

"As you know, regarding gas - not oil - the government has already adopted, starting April 1, a price-capping and control scheme so that the population and companies are not affected," Nicusor Dan added.
