A piece of legislation by which we ensure that the price of natural gas will not increase after March 31 has been finalised and, as soon as it is adopted in the government meeting, it will create predictability for companies and people, said the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, at the end of Government's Question Time debates in Parliament on Monday.
"We have already finished the piece of legislation by which we ensure that the prices for natural gas will not increase after March 31, which gives stability, and, as soon as it is adopted at the government meeting, it will create predictability for both companies and people. And I want everyone to be calm, despite the bombastic calls on social media, on certain screens, that the price for natural gas for household consumers will not increase, because we cap from the producer, throughout the chain; we have a regulated price, so that we do not reach a higher price for natural gas for households," Ivan said.
As for the support for vulnerable consumers, the minister said that the mechanism of reducing electricity bills by RON 50 will continue and a similar mechanism of reducing gas bills by RON100 will be introduced.
"It is a measure of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), with which the budget projection for 2026 was started. In the case of vulnerable energy consumers, we will continue that mechanism of reducing electricity bills by RON 50 for people on low incomes and, at the same time, we are discussing the introduction of this mechanism for the cold weather October 1, 2026-March 31, 2027, of RON 100 for people on very low incomes, in terms of natural gas," said Bogdan Ivan.
Ivan on Monday, attended Government's Question Time political debates in Parliament, at the request of the Save Romania Union (USR) parliamentary group.
