The Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) and the Save Romania Union (USR) agreed this weekend on the proposed ministers who will be part of the Bolojan Government. Dragos Anastasiu has been picked for Deputy Prime Minister for Reform.
Dragos Anastasiu was born on 5 June 1964, in Bucharest.
In July 1982, after taking the entrance exam for the Polytechnic University of Bucharest - Faculty of Automation, he emigrated to Germany. There, he graduated from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Faculty of Medicine in Frankfurt, according to biographical information published on www.infotravelromania.ro.
He worked as a doctor in the internal medicine department of St. Markus Hospital in Frankfurt (May 1990 - February 1995).
In 1995, he founded the companies Intertouring GmbH in Frankfurt and Touring Europabus Romania, which, two years later, became part of the international Eurolines passenger transport network. He later introduced the TUI brand to the Romanian market, according to his biography on birouldespeakeri.ro.
In 2017, Dragos Anastasiu partnered with FlixBus, marking the first major business line of the Eurolines Group. Two years later, in 2019, he transferred all tourism activities to the DER Touristik Group, thus exiting the tourism industry.
Since 2015, Dragos Anastasiu has been the owner of the Green Village 4* tourist complex in the Danube Delta, and since 2014 he has held the Enterprise Rent-A-Car franchise in Romania.
Outside the country, he has developed businesses in Germany and the Republic of Moldova. He has been actively involved in the creation and development of several companies across diverse sectors: tour operating, car rental services, taxi and leasing, tourism, real estate, consultancy, and IT development, according to presidency.ro.
He served as President of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was a member of the Advisory Council of the Romanian Business Leaders Foundation for nearly 10 years. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Hotel Industry Federation and spokesperson for the Alliance for Tourism.
Beyond business, he has dedicated a significant part of his time to education programmes. He is President of the Rethink Romania Association, is involved in consultancy activities for Romanian entrepreneurs, and works on projects aiming to repatriate Romanians working abroad.
He was also a jury member on the TVR 2 show Arena Leilor (the Romanian version of Dragons' Den).
In February 2025, he was appointed honorary adviser to Romania's interim president Ilie Bolojan, for relations with the business environment, according to the previously mentioned source.
