The City Hall of the Capital, through the Bucharest Hospitals and Medical Services Administration, launched on Wednesday the project "IVF3 - A chance for infertile couples", which aims to increase the birth rate by financially supporting a maximum of 2,000 infertile couples or single women who have a medical indication for the in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the financial support provided is up to 15,000 lei for a beneficiary, an amount intended for drug treatments and IVF procedures, and the project implementation period is July 2025 - December 2026.
The online platform will be available starting Wednesday on the website https://fiv.assmb.ro/.
Married or unmarried couples, single women from Bucharest, diagnosed with a condition incompatible with natural reproduction are eligible to register. The diagnosis must be certified by an obstetrics-gynecology specialist with expertise in the treatment of infertility and medically assisted human reproduction from affiliated units.
"The ASSMB, through the Bucharest City Hall, thus offers concrete support to families in Bucharest who are facing infertility, and the high costs of IVF procedures represent a major obstacle," states the quoted source.
Within the projects carried out in previous years - FIV 1 and FIV 2, carried out by the Bucharest Hospitals and Medical Services Administration, 2,151 couples benefited from financial support worth 13,800 lei per couple.
As a direct result of this support, 659 births were registered and 818 children were born.
"It is an important step towards expanding access to modern medical services, both in the treatment and prevention of serious diseases. Through this project and the other three recently launched - IVF, genetic testing in breast cancer, post-oncological recovery and cervical cancer prevention - we continue to invest in the health of Bucharest residents. I thank all those who support these efforts and invite Bucharest residents to access the information available on official platforms", stated Iustinian Rosca, general director of ASSMB, quoted in the press release.
