The Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu will participate on Wednesday and Thursday in the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which will take place at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, Agerpres reports.
Minister Bogdan Aurescu will reiterate, on this occasion, the importance of rapidly implementing the decisions of the Allied Summit on March 24, with an emphasis on establishing new NATO Battle Groups, of which one in Romania, which will contribute to strengthening security on the entire Eastern Flank, namely on transforming and consolidating the posture of NATO's long term deterrence and defence, especially on the Eastern Flank and in the Black Sea, in the context of the new security reality.
During the talks regarding the preparation of NATO Summit in Madrid in June, Minister Bogdan Aurescu will plead for the necessity of NATO's future Strategic Concept to reflect, in a more adequate matter, the new security context the Alliance is currently facing, as well as the fact that Russia represents the main threat to the Alliance, but also will highlight the priority granted by the Alliance to collective defence, as NATO's main task.
Furthermore, the head of the Romanian diplomacy will refer to the need of consolidating cooperation with like-minded partners, as well as the necessity of continuing support for partners in Georgia and the Republic of Moldova, to increase their resilience.
On Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will also take part in the event dedicated to the inauguration of the office in Brussels of GLOBSEC's think tank, as an honorary speaker within the debate dedicated to European security.
