Air freight transport (including mail) increased in 2025 by 10.5% compared with the previous year, from 51,853 tonnes to 57,280 tonnes, according to data centralised by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), agerpres reports.
The largest shares of freight transport were recorded at Henri Coanda Bucharest Airport, with 15,500 tonnes of cargo loaded and 28,400 tonnes unloaded, Avram Iancu Cluj-Napoca Airport, with 2,800 tonnes of cargo loaded and 3,800 tonnes unloaded, and Traian Vuia Timisoara Airport, with 2,500 tonnes of cargo loaded and 4,000 tonnes unloaded.
The most significant shares in domestic transport were recorded for Henri Coanda Bucharest Airport, which accounted for 19.7% of the total tonnes of cargo loaded, Avram Iancu Cluj-Napoca Airport with 47.7%, and Traian Vuia Timisoara Airport with 32.6%.
