Senate Speaker Mircea Abrudean believes that the draft state budget for 2026 must be quickly adopted by Parliament, in the form assumed by the Government, being "realistic" and built "without privileges".
"The draft budget is at Parliament and its rapid adoption is needed, in the form assumed by the Romanian Government. It is a realistic budget, oriented towards investments and built without privileges. It represents the key to continuing the reforms started in the nine months since the Government has been led by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. The realistic nature of the budget is also confirmed by independent institutions. It is the first time that the Fiscal Council speaks in appreciative terms about such a draft budget", Abrudean wrote on Facebook on Friday.
He stressed that "the direction of reform must be continued, Romania needs stability and a government that will continue modernizing the economy, not artificial political crises around the budget".
The draft budget for 2026 will be submitted to the final vote in the joint sitting of Parliament next Thursday.
