Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal thanked Romania for its decision to join the American Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism and for its contribution of 50 million euros in support of Ukraine's defense.
"Romania joins the PURL and contributes 50 million for this initiative. This tranche of aid is critical for Ukraine's defense and the protection of our people. I am grateful to Romanian people and government, as well as to my counterpart, Minister of National Defense Radu Miruta, for their unwavering support. Every decision to support Ukraine's defense brings a just peace closer," the Ukrainian official wrote on Wednesday on his X account, potrivit Agerpres.
Earlier, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Romania is joining the American PURL mechanism to support Ukraine's defense and commits 50 million euros for this purpose.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government adopted a decision by which Romania joins the states contributing to the U.S. proposal regarding the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), with the amount of 50 million euros, alongside most European allies and other states that share the same perspective.
The PURL allocation for PURL is in compliance with the 2025 budget ceiling, the cited source said.
The PURL mechanism represents a foreign and security policy instrument of major importance for the United States, especially in the context of the approach promoted by the Trump Administration regarding the fair sharing of security responsibilities among allies.
