The volume of the turnover in Romania's trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased in January 2026 from December 2025, 21.4% unadjusted, and 2.4% seasonally adjusted, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Thursday.
Thus, the total volume of the turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, decreased in January overall by 21.4% as a result of decreases recorded in the trade of motor vehicles (-29.4%), trade of motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (-22.0%), maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (-12.8%) and sale of parts and accessories for motor vehicles (-3.9%).
Also, year-on-year the total volume of the turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, in January 2026 decreased overall by 6.7%, as a result of decreases in the trade of motorcycles, parts and related accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (-11.8%), trade of motor vehicles (-9.5%), motor vehicle maintenance and repair (-3.4%) and sale of parts and accessories for motor vehicles (-1.8%).
Seasonally adjusted, it was down 0.3%.
