A military drone launched by Russia entered national airspace for 4 kilometres and crashed near the locality of Parches after being diverted by Ukrainian air defence systems, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) informs on Thursday.
According to the same source, during the night of Wednesday into Thursday, Russian Federation forces carried out a new series of drone attacks against civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania, in the northern area of Tulcea County.
Two F-16 aircraft took off at 12:16 am from the 86th Air Base in Borcea to monitor the situation in the air.
The National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in order to implement population alert measures in northern Tulcea County, and a RO-ALERT message was issued at 12:35 am.
At 12:44, a drone diverted by Ukrainian air defence entered national airspace for approximately 4 kilometres, then crashed 2 km from the locality of Parches, outside inhabited areas, the Ministry of National Defence stated.
An IGSU fire engine and teams from the Ministry of National Defence were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered a patch of burnt vegetation and drone debris.
No material damage or casualties were reported.
The area has been secured, and specialised teams from the Ministry of National Defence and the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) are to carry out on-site investigations.
