Romanian authorities have sent a new shipment of equipment and intervention materials to the Republic of Moldova to manage the situation caused by the accidental pollution of the Nistru River.
'Today, the third shipment of materials arrived in the Republic of Moldova, consisting of Spill-sorb' (special absorbent material) - 4,090 kg, absorbent barriers - 474 metres, and absorbent rolls - 3,752 metres,' the press office of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) informs.
The materials are being provided by the Romanian Waters National Administration, which has also sent a specialised intervention team to use them, agerpers reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, through the Iasi Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, is ensuring the coordination of the mission, the transport of the equipment and the personnel required to carry out the intervention.
'We recall that the provision of this support was approved by Decision No. 3 of March 12, 2026,of the National Committee for Emergency Situations, and the actions are being carried out through cooperation between the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests of Romania and the Ministry of Interior of Romania,' the same source said.
