The Presidential Administration hosted on Tuesday a blood donation initiative to draw attention to the constant reality of the critical need for blood reserves in the healthcare system.

President Nicusor Dan also donated blood.

"Blood donation saves lives! Together, in simple gestures and easy-to-do actions, we can make a big difference. There are fellow human beings who go through terrible experiences and traumas, accidents or complicated medical interventions. In these dramatic situations, it is essential that hospitals can provide the necessary transfusions. Today, the Union Hall in the Cotroceni Presidential Palace has turned into a space of solidarity," the president said in a social media post.

He thanked his colleagues who joined the initiative, as well as the Nicolae Nestorescu Blood Transfusion Centre of the Ministry of National Defence for their support.

"Beyond the official status, we are first and foremost a community, and the power of example is perhaps the most important message we can convey. That is why I have been encouraging periodic blood donation for many years. I want to thank my colleagues who joined this initiative without hesitation and the partners from the Nicolae Nestorescu Blood Transfusion Centre of the Ministry of National Defence for their support. At the centre, anyone can donate blood daily, from 07:00hrs to 12:00hrs," said Dan.
