The number of building permits for residential buildings increased in 2017 by 7.6 percent as compared to 2016, reaching 41,603, according to data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The growth was reflected, according to INS, in the following development regions: North-East (+851 building permits), Center (+456), Bucharest-Ilfov (+799), West (+350), South-East (+286), South-West Oltenia (+258) and South-Muntenia (+137). Declines were recorded in the North-West development region (-187 permits).
In December 2017, a number of 2,724 building permits were issued for residential buildings, declining by 19.5 percent as compared to November 2017 and increasing by 8.1 percent as compared to December 2016.
Out of the total building permits issued in December, 67.8 percent are for the rural area.
The regional distribution reveals a decline of the number of permits issued for the construction of residential buildings against November 2017, in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (-278), North-West (-132), South-Muntenia (-69), South-West Oltenia (-57), South-East (-51), North-East (-44), West (-16) and Center (-12).
In December, as compared to the same month of the previous year, an increase was recorded for the permits issued for the construction of residential buildings in the following development regions: West (+101), Bucharest-Ilfov (+83), South-Muntenia (+42), Center (+27), South-West Oltenia (+10) and North-East (+7). Declines were recorded in the North-West (-59) and South-East (-6) development region.
