The Government adopted, on Tuesday, the Emergency Ordinance aimed at extending the cap on markup for basic foods until June 30.
The emergency ordinance amends Emergency Ordinance 67/2023, the Government spokesperson Ioana Nadina Dogioiu said.
"Basically, it is about an extension of the capping of the markup on basic foods until June 30, 2026. We are in the fifteenth month of the capping, periodically renewed by emergency ordinances. The measure is maintained under the same conditions as before, regarding a series of basic foods. There is a list, starting with: white bread, yogurt, eggs, oil, chicken, pork and so on", announced Dogioiu at the end of the Government meeting.
The governing coalition agreed on Monday to cap the markup for basic foods for another three months.
