A training session for Salvamont canine units dedicated to avalanche response took place these days in the Fagaras Mountains, with a key moment being an aerial exercise carried out with a Black Hawk helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate.
"Between March 2 and 10, in the Fagaras Mountains, on Capra Valley, at the base of Museteica Peak, the National Training and Reconfirmation Course for Salvamont Canine Units dedicated to avalanche response took place. A key moment of the course was the aerial training conducted with a Black Hawk helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs," the General Aviation Inspectorate wrote on its Facebook page on Friday.
The air crew supported the training of 22 operational canine units from 17 counties, simulating real aerial intervention procedures and the rapid transport of rescuers and search dogs to hard-to-reach mountain areas.
In mountain rescue missions, the helicopter is a vital element, significantly reducing response time and enabling the rapid insertion of canine teams into avalanche-affected areas, where every minute can make the difference between life and death, the cited source said.
The aerial exercise helped improve cooperation between the IGAv air crews and Salvamont canine units, strengthening response capacity in critical situations.
The course was organised by the National Association of Mountain Rescuers in Romania, under the patronage of the Department for Emergency Situations, in cooperation with Salvamont Arges and the Arges County Council.
