Starting next spring, the mandate of Prime Minister will be taken over by Social Democratic Party (PSD), Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told a Thursday's meeting with a delegation of investors, specifying that he intends to respect this agreement.

According to a Government's press release, Prime Minister Bolojan received, on Thursday, at Victoria Palace, a delegation of investors, representatives of 13 international investment funds, coordinated by Bank of America.

"As of the spring of next year, the mandate of prime minister will be taken over by the PSD. We intend to respect this agreement. In recent years, things have not worked well also because politicians have not respected their agreements. It is difficult for citizens to respect us, as long as we do not respect each other. Romania has had some lessons now. When you get rid of deficits for years, the bill is quite high. I hope we have all understood this and I am referring to politicians. In addition, Romania is not alone in the world. I am optimistic that, regardless of what will happen after 2027, Romania has a strong enough architecture to move forward in the direction we started", said Ilie Bolojan, according to the cited source.

The Prime Minister outlined the Government's most important priorities for the current year, namely continuing to reduce the budget deficit to a figure approaching 6% - 6.2% of GDP, optimizing state operating expenses, maintaining government stability and putting the economy on a healthier footing, including by involving more people in the real economy and supporting companies that make technology transfers and support exports, the Government says.

The Prime Minister mentioned that, from 2027, Romania will become a net exporter of natural gas under the conditions in which the Black Sea deposits will come into operation. He added that it is important that part of this resource remains in the country and develops industries that have faced challenges in recent years.

The Prime Minister also referred to the development space offered by the agricultural products processing sector.

The investors emphasized that they appreciate the Government's reform measures to reduce the budget deficit and optimize spending and asked what the economic and political prospects are for next year.

At the same time, they pointed out the importance of government stability for the economy and asked what the priorities of the Executive will be after adopting the budget for this year, the press release also states.

Prime Minister Bolojan also said that he is optimistic about maintaining governmental stability and supporting the priorities assumed by the government - absorbing European funds, continuing to optimize public spending, adopting a simplification and debureaucratization package that will help companies, supporting investments in the defense industry and technological transfer.

According to the Government, investors were also interested in the government's plans for fiscal and budgetary consolidation, in which context Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare stated that, in addition to continuing reforms, an important role in this regard is played by the projects to digitize tax authority ANAF and attract funds that Romania benefits from through the PNRR and other European programs.

On behalf of the Government, along with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare, the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Jurca, and the Prime Minister's honorary advisor, Ionut Dumitru.
