Transylvania International Book Festival (FICT) started on Tuesday in Cluj-Napoca and gathered in the city over 50 publishing houses that will display their book offer throughout the entire week.
The event offers the audience the opportunity to meet Romanian or foreign writers, as well as to attend conferences on literature.
The first day of the Festival hosts „Romanian writers in the First World War” exhibition, put together in partnership with the National Museum of Romanian Literature, and actor George Mihaita, who is a guest of honor at the FICT, will participate in the launching of the volume called „MIHAITA. The reconstruction of a life”, by Dorian Papp.
A debate on culture in Romania today will be held as of 12:30hrs, which will also be attended by Director of the National Museum of Romanian Literature of Bucharest Ioan Cristescu, and starting 17:00hrs the public will be able to meet writers Mosche B. Itzhaki, Paul Farkas and Noa Levin Harif.
Romania's union through culture is the topic of another debate, starting at 19:00hrs, attended by Basarab Nicolescu and Bujor Nedelovici, two Romanian writers who came form France, afterwards Agerpres National News Agency's documentary „The Greater Union - Romania at 100” will be screened.
The special projects of this year's festival also include bringing to Cluj over 20 Romanian writers from 8 European countries, as well as an attempt to set a Guinness world record, that will be taking place on Saturday, 6 October, when the Transylvania International Book Festival aims to enter the Guinness Book of Records with the highest number of people, namely 10,000, who are reading the same book, one at a time.
The 6th edition of the FICT takes place between 2 and 7 October 2018 in the Unirii Square of Cluj-Napoca.
