Two Romanian duos on Wednesday progressed to the quarter-finals of the men's doubles event at the Buenos Aires Challenger tennis tournament, prize money USD 63,000 dollars.
Top seed Alexandru Jecan-Bogdan Pavel defeated Brandon Perez (Venezuela)/Noah Schachter (USA) 7-6 (7/2) 6-4, in an hour and 23 minutes, without losing a ball on serve. The next opponents will be Argentines Juan Estevez and Lucio Ratti.
Gabi Adrian Boitan and Sebastian Gima defeated Franco Agamenone (Italy)/Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo (Spain) 7-5 6-7 (3/7) 10-5 in an hour and 57 minutes. In the quarterfinals, Boitan and Gima will face Mariano Kestelboim (Argentina)/Marcelo Zormann (Brazil).
Each Romanian duos won USD 620 and 9 ATP doubles points for their performance so far.
In singles, qualifier Romanian Stefan Palosi, 25, ranked 507th , was defeated in the round of 16 by the Argentina's Lautaro Midon, 21, ranked 234th, 6-3 6-2, in an hour and 14 minutes.
Palosi is left with USD 1,010 and 7 ATP points.
