The Student Culture House is organising the exhibition "Romania Fotogeografica" on Thursday, in marking the National Culture Day, the organisers inform in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The exhibition will present works from the Fotogeografica gallery, which illustrate moments captured in the universe of the Romanian village and nature in the winter season.
The event, dedicated to the National Culture Day, which is celebrated annually on January 15, promotes culture, art and national heritage. It also highlights the Photographic Art Day in Romania, which is celebrated annually on January 11, as a tribute to painter and photographer Carol Popp de Szathmari, known as the first photographer of Romania and the first war photographer in the world.
Fotogeografica is one of the most prestigious and long-standing cultural initiatives at the national level, through which cultural and natural heritage is promoted.
Photography as a visual form, in Fotogeografica, has an informative and cultural role by displaying identity values and the natural environment.
Romania has a spectacular nature, a cultural heritage and a remarkable biodiversity, but all of these need voices to make them visible. In an ocean of digital images, Fotogeografica remains one of the few platforms that seeks meaning, not just aesthetics, the press release states.
