A plane went off the runway at Cluj Airport as it was engaging in a return maneuver, and a tree fell on a car, due to strong winds on Monday evening; no fatalities were reported.
"As far as the Wizz Air flight from Bologna is concerned, due to the strong wind and winter conditions, it was not recommended for the plane to return to the runway, but the plane did return despite the bad weather, and taxied slightly to the side of the runway. The plane was not damaged at all, and the passengers were not harmed. The Wizz Air flights from Valencia and Lufthansa from Munich were delayed by between 30 minutes and one hour," director of the Avram Iancu International Airport at Cluj-Napoca David Ciceo told the media on Tuesday.
Also Monday night, a tree fell on a car on E60.
"A Ro-Alert code red warning was issued for the area. Only one tree fell on the E60 between Huedin and Morlaca on a car; traffic resumed shortly after. I am not aware of any other events," Cluj Prefect Tasnadi Szilard said on Tuesday.
The mountainous area of Cluj County was under a code red warning of wind gusts of up to 135 km/h on Monday evening.
