The President of IMM Romania, Florin Jianu, requested on Tuesday, in Zalau, an emergency meeting of the National Tripartite Council to identify immediate solutions to limit fuel prices, warning that the state must show real solidarity by reducing taxation (excise duties and VAT), not just through pressure on the business environment.

The statements were made during the event "Sălaj in the spotlight. Dialogues about entrepreneurship, performance and community", organized by IMM Romania in partnership with IMM Sălaj.

The event, held in the Porolissum hall of the Sălaj Culture and Art Center, brought together local administration leaders, representatives of the economic environment and entrepreneurs.

In his speech, Florin Jianu emphasized the devastating impact of energy costs on all economic sectors, from agriculture and transport, to services and trade.

He criticized the lack of rapid reaction by the authorities, comparing the current situation with the hesitations during the pandemic or at the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.

"We are very vehement in our relationship with the Government. We definitely want a meeting of the National Tripartite Council in which we can sit down at the table - employers, unions, Government - to find the best solution for limiting fuel prices. The price of fuel affects everyone. Other countries have already intervened. We no longer have to wait for divine intervention or wait for the war to end to regulate things," declared the leader of IMM Romania.

Jianu pointed out that over 60% of the price of fuel is represented by taxes and excise duties, asking the Executive for concrete fiscal measures instead of caps that could block the economy.

"If we talk about solidarity, let's be solidarity, because we are tired of the solidarity that comes only from one side, from entrepreneurs. The state should also assume the decrease in excise duty, the limitation of VAT, its return or the waiver of that minimum tax on turnover. The state should not transfer the responsibility only onto the shoulders of entrepreneurs and citizens," he added.

The President of IMM Romania also highlighted the vital role that entrepreneurs have in the dynamics of society, being the only social category forced by market reality to continuously adapt.

"The only ones interested in change are entrepreneurs. The administrative environment wants things to be settled, so that nothing changes. Employees want the security of tomorrow. Entrepreneurs are the only ones who perceive, absorb and are interested in change, because they see it every day. If you don't adapt, the business may no longer exist tomorrow," Florin Jianu also stated.

The event in Zalau aimed to strengthen the connection between the business environment and the local community, providing a framework for debate on regional performance and development.
