National Liberal Party (PNL) Spokesman Ionut Stroe said on Tuesday that the Liberals were not interested in the new party announced by Ludovic Orban, which would probably have the same outcome as in the case of Calin Popescu-Tariceanu's party, stating that the parliamentarians who are part of this party were elected "on PNL's work and lists."
"We are not at all interested in this new party of Mr. Orban, just as I do not think that the Romanians would be interested in this subject. In other words, Mr. Orban and his colleagues who are setting up this new party today should know that it's worth mentioning they reached Parliament through PNL's work and on the PNL lists, and after Mr. Orban lost the election, he left the party, and we have great doubts that he would be as successful as he had been if he ran alone in the elections with the new party. There have been other episodes like this. I will give only one example, that of Mr. Tariceanu. Probably this episode will have the same outcome," Ionut Stroe told AGERPRES.
Regarding the fact that Orban announced that more resignations from the PNL would follow, Stroe said that Ludovic Orban can say anything.
"I have no opinion on Mr. Orban's announcement, he can claim anything, in the end we are all free, according to the Constitution, to associate in any kind of political formations and in groups of certain social-professional interests," Stroe added.
On Tuesday, former PNL chairman Ludovic Orban announced the formation of a new center-right party, which will be called the Force of the Right, along with 16 lawmakers, all of whom have resigned from the Liberal Party.
