Senate's Abrudean: We stand in solidarity with the Spanish authorities and the people of Spain

Senate President Mircea Abrudean extended his condolences on Monday to the grieving families following the tragic railway accident which occurred on Sunday evening in Spain.

"It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the tragic events in Spain. I extend my sincere condolences to the grieving families and wish them strength in facing this difficult ordeal. We stand in solidarity with the Spanish authorities and the people of Spain," Abrudean wrote on X, agerpres reports.

An Iryo train travelling from Malaga to Madrid derailed on Sunday and entered the tracks of an Alvia train travelling at 200 kilometres per hour in the opposite direction, heading towards Huelva. A total of 484 passengers on both trains were affected. The death toll has risen to 39, according to sources close to the investigation who spoke to the EFE news agency on Monday. A total of 73 people remain hospitalised, 24 of them in serious condition, including four minors.
