Around 90 people were rescued from the mountains in the past 24 hours, following emergency interventions by mountain rescuers, with 37 of them taken to hospital.

Over the past 24 hours, the National Salvamont Dispatch Centre received 86 calls requesting the emergency intervention of mountain rescue teams, agerpres reports.

According to a post on the Salvamont Romania Facebook page, most calls were for mountain rescuers from Brasov (13), Suceava (12) and Lupeni (7).

"In these interventions, 89 people were rescued. Of these, 37 were transported by SAJ, SMURD or Salvamont ambulances to hospital, while the others were authorised to be transported in relatives' vehicles. A further 38 calls were received requesting advice and information on various mountain hiking trails. Salvamont Romania teams urge caution and responsibility when carrying out mountain activities," Salvamont Romania said in its post on Monday.
