Romania's power grid is working stably in severe winter weather, as the morning and evening consumption peaks are covered without problems and natural gas storage facilities are 65% filled, according to Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan.

"We have summoned the National Energy Command again, to check the situation up to date and to make sure that the energy system is operating safely. All consumers are being supplied electricity . In recent days, there were no interruptions caused by weather. The power grid has been working stably. Although there is severe weather, the morning and evening consumption peaks are covered without problems," the minister wrote in a social media post.

Natural gas storage facilities are 65% full, above the EU average and 200 million cubic metres more than in the e same period last year.

"We are able to meet the increased consumption these days. Domestic production, extraction from storage facilities and imports are balanced. Romania also continues to support Moldova," he said.

Ivan added that the production facilities are permanently monitored and where specific technical incidents occur, there is quick response without any impact on the population's supply.

"There is no transmission unavailability, and the market is well covered. In the middle of the cold spell, Romania is safe. The grid is working, reserves are solid, and supply is secured," according to Ivan.

Romania is under frost warnings, with temperatures having dropped to minus 19 degrees early on Tuesday.
