Romania's Defence Minister Radu Miruta on Monday had a videoconference call with his Polish counterpart Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz to discuss the need to intensify strengthening NATO and EU's eastern flank.
According to the Romanian Defence Ministry (MApN), the two officials reiterated the excellent cooperation ties under the two countries' strategic partnership, especially in the area of defence, with Poland being appreciated for its contribution to the NATO bodies in Romania, particularly Multinational Brigade South-East in Craiova.
Miruta said that Romania will continue its commitment to contributing forces to the NATO battle group in Poland.
At the same time, they discussed the need to intensify strengthening the eastern flank of NATO and the EU, reiterating the importance of the complementarity of the measures taken at the level of the two organisations - Eastern Sentry, European Drone Defence Initiative, Eastern Flank Watch, European Air Shield and European Space Shield, including in terms of preparing discussions that will take place at the future NATO and EU ministerial meetings in the field of defence in February, and the B9 Meeting, which this year will take place in Romania.
