"He was a brave politician, full of courage, he was appreciated as a journalist in Italy and a staunch European who firmly militated for defending human rights all around the world. It is a sad day for us all, we had a lot of respect for him, we appreciated his diplomacy and commitment with which he led one of the most important institutions of the European Union during these awful times, that bring sad news every day and seem to have no end in sight. I am sending my thoughts to all those close to president Sassoli and I am offering my sincerest condolences, it is a heavy loss for the entire Europe," Tomac wrote on his Facebook page.
