Romanian athletes won seven more medals on Wednesday at the International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) European Championships 2026 in Molveno, Italy, including three gold, one silver and three bronze.
Aissia Prisecariu won gold in the 100 m backstroke with a new world record of 1:07.04. The podium was completed by Russians Diana Musaelian in 1:13.35 and Elena Kulikova in 1:16.48.
Another gold medal was secured by Vladimir Romaniuc in the 50 m breaststroke in 32.11. Second place went to Russian Aleksei Jarkov in 32.27 while another Romanian, Adrian Nae, finished third in 32.94.
Andrei Enache emerged victorious in the 250 m freestyle, clocked at 2:43.00, followed by Germany's Andreas Waschburger in 2:44.72 while the bronze medal went to Romanian Luca Boldura in 2:49.92.
Romania also won a silver medal in the mixed 4x50 m medley relay with Andrei Iaschiu, Daria Silisteanu, Aissia Prisecariu and Alexandru Gaman, finishing in 1:51.80. Victory went to the Individual Neutral Athletes 1 team, who set a new world record of 1:47.58.
Paula Boleacu won a bronze medal in the 50 m breaststroke in 39.33, with the top two places taken by Russians Viktoria Lisitkaia in 34.61, a world record, and Evdokia Brovkova in 38.55.
After two days of competition, Romania's tally stands at 10 medals, including four gold, three silver and three bronze.
Romania participates in the competition with a team of 12 elite swimmers and 14 swimmers in the masters category.
